Reminders for your saved places that know whether the door is open.

Save the places you want to see. Wander. When one is near, your phone speaks up with its opening hours. A place that is closed stays quiet.

What you'd use it for

You save it, you walk, it speaks up. Every example is a place on your list, never a suggestion from us.

A city without a map

Barcelona, four days, twenty places on the list. You put the phone away and just walk. When one of them is around the corner, it tells you.

The app: Sagrada Família · 150 m · Open until 20:00

Friends' tips

A friend sends you a Google Maps link to a brasserie: you have to go. You paste it and it is on the list. Three days later you walk past it at lunchtime.

The app: Brasserie Lola · 200 m · Open until 15:00

Restaurants and bars

The tapas bar everyone recommends, the cocktail bar from the blog. Walk past one in the evening and the reminder says whether it is still pouring.

The app: El Xampanyet · 300 m · Open until 23:30

Places to walk

A park, a viewpoint, a street of murals someone told you about. No door, no hours, still a reminder when you are nearby.

The app: Bunkers del Carmel · 600 m · Hours unknown — check first

Markets and halls

Markets close early and on surprising days. You wander past at a quarter to eight and the reminder is honest about the time you have.

The app: Mercat de la Boqueria · 350 m · Closes in 45 min — go now or skip

A Saturday in your own city

A trip can be one day in Ghent or Antwerp: five places you keep meaning to visit. A list, a walk, reminders.

The app: Boekhandel Limerick · 200 m · Open until 18:00

You: All of it starts weeks before, on the couch: paste the links as they come in, one list per trip with dates. On day one the reminders switch on by themselves.

Made for the wanderer without a plan: a city for a few days, a list of ten to forty places, a lot of walking and little planning.

Four moments of a trip

No itinerary, no planning app. A list, a walk, and a phone that knows when to speak.

A friend sent me a Google Maps link. Saved.

Collect

Search the map or paste a Google Maps link. Confirm the pin and the place. Your list, per trip.

The app: I'll keep an eye on your list while you walk.

Wander

No route, no schedule. Your phone watches the circles around your places. GeoStroll never runs a GPS loop.

The app: Sagrada Família · 400 m · open until 20:00

The reminder

One reminder, with the hours on it. Closing soon says so. Closed means silence. Tap it for Google's place card.

Two down. Tomorrow the museum.

Check off

Mark visited, snooze until tomorrow, or mute a place. See what is left of the list.

Go now, or skip it

With opening hours on, every reminder is worked out at the moment you arrive, from Google's opening hours, in the place's own time zone.

OpenOpen until 20:00

More than an hour left. Go whenever you like.

Closing soonCloses in 45 min — go now or skip

Between 16 and 60 minutes left. Your call, made in time.

ClosedSilence

Closed, or too late to make it: no reminder at all. Quiet when we know a place is closed, honest when we don't.

What GeoStroll does not do

Not a planner, not a booking app. A walking companion.

  • No day-by-day itineraries
  • No bookings, flights or hotels
  • No GPS running in the background
  • No account, no server, no ads

Your trip stays on your phone

No server, no account, no analytics. Here is exactly what happens, in three parts.

Stays on your phone

Your trips, places and pins live in the app, in your own backups. We never see them.

Your phone watches the circles

iOS tells the app when you enter a circle around a saved place. Your position is never stored or sent by us.

One question to Google, with your OK

Near a place, the app asks Google Maps for its hours. That tells Google this phone is at that place. You choose once, and can turn it off any time.
